Mustang Emergency Brake Needs Repair?

I have a 2000 Mustang 3.8 V6 5-speed that needs a rear brake job. Could somebody tell me how the parking/emergency brake works on the car? (It has rear disks.) I’ve heard that it’s an unusual arrangement that may be expensive.

As long as there is no damage to the rear calipers you will be alright. The p-brake on those are integrated into the caliper itself. It has what looks like a screw inside and when pull up on the e-brake handle the screw will twist to apply pressure on the rotor. So with this knowledge, they are an expensive part. Take it to any brake repair shop to have them looked at.
